The on-demand, app-based beauty service that our Dallas neighbors have been enjoying since October is now available in Houston with the local launch of beGlammed, the biz that provides professional hair stylists and makeup artists, who come right to your door.
Founders Jocelyn Loo and Maile Pacheco launched the app in Las Vegas in July and have since expanded to Los Angeles and Fort Worth as well as Dallas.

"I fell in love with the convenience of Uber and a light bulb went off," Pacheco said in a call from her home base in LA. Why not create an app that would offer "great beauty service and a great experience" when and where you wanted?
She added that the Starbucks concept of creating brand consistency throughout its network, has been another guiding principle in the company's development. With that level of consistent high quality service in mind, Pacheco said that several months were spent lining up and vetting the Houston stable of 30 stylists, a number which is expected to grow. They work as independent contractors and set their own schedules.
Investor Rebby Gregg of Dallas, also in on the call, added, "Personality is a big thing for the stylists. We want them to be fun and energetic and fun to talk to."
Rates, which vary by city, in Houston start at $60 for a blow out and $75 for makeup applications, a package of both services is $125. The app is available here. Hair up-dos, down-dos, bridal packages and bridesmaids packages are part of the beGlammed menu.
The beGlammed app is similar to GlamSquad, which operates in Manhattan and LA, a fact that doesn't trouble Gregg. "There is plenty of business out there," he said.
