Top Houston DJs face off against L.A.'s finest at Red Bull competition
Red Bull has announced today the American debut of Red Bull Turn It Up, a special music competition and after-party coming to Houston on Saturday, September 7 at Noto nightclub in EaDo.
Red Bull Turn it Up is an interactive, crowd-judged DJ competition that uses specific themes to inspire each challenger’s track selection. Four-person DJ teams featuring highly-accomplished local DJs will then compete head-to-head in three back-to-back battles. Competitors will be put to the test and perform the most entertaining mixes they can come up with on the fly, in an effort to fuel the most crowd excitement with the winners being chosen by eliciting the biggest fan reactions.
The winning team will be gifted an opportunity to perform at ONE Musicfest, one of America’s premier hip-hop events, at Piedmont Park in Atlanta this October. They will receive a complimentary, all-expenses-paid round-trip experience, along with up to $2,000 in Pioneer DJ equipment.

Red Bull has invited DJ Mr Rogers, one of Houston’s most popular DJs, to curate a lineup of local talent that reflects the diverse DJ culture of Houston, while Los Angeles’ very own hip-hop heavyweight DJ Hed will create his own crew of aspiring DJs to claim the Screw City crown. As the crews battle it out, Houston’s very own DJ Chose and Babygirl will serve as hosts for this nighttime competition. Plus, attendee can sip a lineup of custom Red Bull cocktails inspired by the talent involved, including the “Roger That” and “The Hedquarters.”
“Being able to help host the inaugural Turn It Up DJ battle here in Houston, let alone the first-ever across the whole country, is a real honor,” Rogers said in a statement. “I’m definitely planning to make H-Town proud, as Red Bull pulls out all the stops in its return to Houston this September, so y’all make sure to pull up early and cheer loud so I can claim this trophy.”
Earlier that same day, locals can enjoy a free preview of the Red Bull Turn It Up experience when Oracle Red Bull Racing brings its championship-winning RB7 car to downtown Houston for an admission-free, all-ages outdoor exhibition called Red Bull Showrun Houston. This one-day afternoon event will also include a special intermission concert from Rogers, who will be performing mid-race alongside fellow H-Town legend DJ Hed.
General admission tickets for Red Bull Turn It Up are on sale now for just $5 (increasing to $10 on September 1 and $15 day-of). More information about both of these events, including the full event schedule as well as the final lineup of drivers, performers, and vendors, will be announced soon.
