Comedians Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer host Third Ward BBQ bash
On Sunday, June 23, funnymen and sitcom stars Anthony Anderson (black-ish) and Cedric the Entertainer (The Neighborhood) came to Houston for one purpose: to bring some new flavors to our barbecue-loving city.
The pair hosted a backyard barbecue party at Third War favorite Bar 5015 for their fans and the community that featured sauces and seasonings from their AC Barbeque line. The longtime friends bonded over their shared love of barbecue and the unique history that surrounds it.
Even though the Entertainer hails from St. Louis and Anderson was born and raised in Compton, they grew up with their own variations on the craft. Partnering on AC Barbeque, they combine their individual experiences, knowledge from experts in the field, and enthusiasm for the artform to create a brand that has everything the home cook needs for a barbeque feast anywhere.
Over 600 people showed up throughout the event to enjoy complimentary BBQ cooked by pitmaster Joey Victorian (owner of Victorian’s Barbecue in Mart, Texas), along with drinks, games, and sounds by DJ Aggravated.
Houston hip-hop legend Scarface made a surprise appearance to show his support. Bar 5015 owner Steve Rogers produced the event for his Legends Only series, where figures in entertainment are celebrated for their efforts.
The visiting celebs also made a few promotional stops on Monday. They made an early-morning appearance on Great Day Houston. Then, they headed over to the Macgregor Market H-E-B for a late-morning meet-and-greet. Finally, they spent their lunchtime hanging with Bun B and other lucky folks over at Trill Burgers.
