10 spooky, sporty, and sexy Halloween parties to attend in Houston
Halloween: that time of year where kids dress up in cute costumes, go door-to-door snagging up candy and, then, you tell your kids the next day that you ate all the candy because Jimmy Kimmel told you to.
But, it's also a time for adults (when they're not being jerks to their kids) to do some fun, possibly scary, occasionally illegal stuff. So, here's a list of Halloween-themed events that grown folks can get in on. Happy freakin' Halloween!
Friday, October 26
Discovery Green
The beloved park will host "Scream on the Green," its annual Halloween celebration, which will include an all-ages costume contest and a screening of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. 6 pm.
Hotel ZaZa Houston
One of Houston's most infamous party spots will host a Halloween bash called "Ghost White Night," where attendees will be haunted by Hollywood icons — Marilyn! Elvis! — of the past. Expect things to get wild here. 10 pm
Saturday, October 27
Bridgeland
Bridgeland presents the 10th Annual Howl-O-Ween Fest, where headliners The Canine Stars will do such popular dog sports as dock diving, freestyle frisbee, flyball racing, and more. 10 am.
The National Museum of Funeral History
The museum for dead heads will be home to a Halloween car show, which will feature more than 150 cars, from classic to contemporary, while supporting local charities. 10 am.
Prohibition Theatre
This saucy spot will host its first annual "Devil's Ball." This is being trumpeted as "the spookiest, sexiest party spot in Space City," complete with haunting surprises and special guests. 9:30 pm.
Sunday, October 28
Eureka Heights Brewing Co.
The brew company will host a Truck or Treat Food Truck Festival, where such mobile eateries as Rich Boy Po' Boy, Phresh Plate and Wylie St. Tacos will serve up some food for the Halloween season. Noon.
Foundation Room
Expect a "Hip-Hop Halloween" party, where DJ Staso will spin old-school classics and attendees can show up in their flyest '80s/'90s gear — sneakers, tracksuits, Hammer pants and so on. 6 pm.
Monday, October 29
Lincoln Bar
Lincoln will have a special Halloween edition of its "Mutha Effen Mondaze" night. The night will be a tribute to Tim Burton, as people are encouraged to dress up as Pee-Wee, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, etc. 7 pm.
Wednesday, October 31 (Halloween)
Miller Outdoor Theatre
Trick or treat early with the kiddos, then enjoy a screening of that seminal, supernatural 1982 flick Poltergiest, directed by Tobe Hooper (and a little bit by Steven Spielberg.) 7 pm.
Marfreless
The legendary makeout spot and Darling Way Boutique are teaming up for a sexy Halloween bash, where people can dress up in their sexiest masquerade gear and maybe make a love connection. 7 pm.
Honorable mention
On Saturday, October 27, Hotel Derek will present the Saint + Sinners Halloween Soiree, where guests can enter through the gates of either heaven or hell for a night of live music, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, etc. No word if there's a room discount for sinners. 8 pm.
