A Gaga Super Bowl
It's official: Houston's Super Bowl will go Gaga over halftime show
The rumors are true: Lady Gaga will headline the Super Bowl halftime show in Houston next February.
The singer made it official Thursday night with a tweet:
It's not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA! @nfl @FOXTV @pepsi #PERFECTILLUSION #GAGASUPERBOWL pic.twitter.com/qR4O57451G

And the NFL confirmed it in a tweet and video:
Looks like we aren’t the only ones excited about @LadyGaga performing at the #SB51 #PepsiHalftime show… https://t.co/7M3WqIDUm2

The official announcement comes almost three weeks after Lady Gaga released her new single, "Perfect Illusion," amid reports that she was in talks for the Super Bowl gig. She won raves earlier this year when she sang the national anthem at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California.
Adele was reportedly the NFL's first choice, but nixed the idea, saying "I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I did say no."
Gaga is known for her racy shows, but she will have to go a long way to surpass the performance at Houston's last Super Bowl in 2004 — the infamous "Nipplegate" incident involving Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
