Head west for indie music & comedy: Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest releases secondround of performers
The crafty folks at Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest released another video announcing five confirmed performers for the popular festival that focuses on independent music and comedy. For Houstonians planning to head over to Auditorium Shores for the festival Nov. 4-6, here's the scoop:
Have you cracked the nautical code yet? Check it out one last time — we reveal the answers below.
Last week, Fun Fun annonounced the first five acts: comic Brian Posehn, Austin's own Okkervil River, hip hop collective Odd Future, hazy dream-pop act M83 and legendary punk band X.
Joining them (listed in the video above):
These upstate NY indie rockers are known for their rich string section (and their penchant for covering Kate Bush).
Old-school Philly hardcore band Kid Dynamite officially broke up in 2000, and very rarely reunites for one-off events like this (while they appeared at 2010's This Is Hardcore fest, it was the first time in five years they'd shared the stage.)
We give props to Party Ends for announcing the addition of experimental musician Merrill Garbus, aka tUnE-YarDs, whose trademark sound pairs drum machine loops with bubbly ukulele.
This Canadian beatmaker and producer has worked with artists ranging from Tim and Eric to Erykah Badu, so we're sure he'll fit right in with FFF's sizable punk and chillwave crowds alike.
FFF always features tons of comedy acts, and it's worth noting that the very first name leaked from the 2011 roster was stoner stand-up Posehn. Adding Watts, whose live performances are half beatbox battle/half free-associative improv guarantees that the comedy stage won't be getting lost in the fest's move to Auditorium Shores.
While the Fun #1 ticket package (the earliest round of passes available) are already sold out, there's still time to grab the Fun #2 passes. (Next month, when another batch is released, they'll be a bit pricier.)
