Returning after a decade, hopes were high that Lilith would be one of the summer's big concert tours. But it appears the all-female revue, which kicks off a 35-city tour in Calgary, Alberta, Sunday with a rotating all-star line-up featuring Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu and Norah Jones, is having problems.
Concerts in Phoenix and Nashville have been officially called off and August dates in Houston, Dallas, West Palm Beach, Tampa and Birmingham are in peril. Jones' manager, Sam Feldman, told The Globe and Mail newspaper in Toronto that Jones was set to perform all the Lilith Fair tour dates she was contracted for but that the Aug. 10-16 dates in Houston and other cities had been canceled.
A press representative for the tour said there was "nothing to confirm right now."
The Lilith website continues to tout the Aug. 15 stop at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, listing performances by Jones, McLachlan, Brandi Carlile, Corinne Bailey Rae, and the Court Yard Hounds.
An Aug. 14 stop in Austin is marked "TBA" with no venue listed.
