A Hometown Girl
Blake Shelton thanks God for a Cypress teen: Judge is awestruck by Danielle Bradbery's Voice
The youngest competitor on NBC's The Voice — Cypress' own Danielle Bradbery — is shooting for the stars and appears to be on the way to making her dreams come true.
Relief and happiness seemed to sweep through the 16-year-old after her name was called to move on to next week's finals during the semifinals results show.
The choices were tough, but America voted and their top three picks — Michelle Chamuel, the Swon Brothers and Bradbery — will face off starting Monday night.
Bradbery's performance in the semifinals was stunning.
After a whirlwind trip home last week to film a clip for the show (see the video below), Bradbery is singing to make her hometown proud. Her day back in Cypress included a pep rally in her honor at her school — Cypress Ranch High School — and a dream night at a Houston Astros game that saw her singing the National Anthem.
And the hometown karma seems to be paying off.
The Voice's superstar judges — Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher and Blake Shelton — gave Bradbery rave reviews after both her semifinal performances. She seemed to glow after Shelton, her coach, complimented her by saying, “You don't have any weakness in your singing."
Shelton went on to tweet about how wonderful her performance was:
Thank you God for @dbradbery's voice!!!!! Unreal...
— Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton) June 11, 2013Before being selected as a finalist, Bradbery talked about how her journey on The Voice has helped her grow and how she has gained confidence. This “little star" — as Shakira called her — is on her way .
Bradbery sent out her own tweet to thank everyone for supporting her (and she added a little Texas charm — who doesn't love a y'all?):
THANK YOU everyone for supporting me and getting me in the top 3!!!! I love y'all!!! #thevoice @nbcthevoice
