Discovery Green's yearly free summer concert series kicks off Thursday with John Egan and native Houstonian Carolyn Wonderland, a close friend of Bob Dylan's and a formidable female guitarist.
The Thursday-night concert series, presented by Capital One Bank, extends through the end of June and runs every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m., except for June 16, when the opening ceremonies for the Summer National Senior Games will be taking place (also open to the public).
Concert goers are free to bring blankets, chairs and picnics, but glass containers and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Other concessions (including beer from co-sponsor Saint Arnold Brewing Company), will be available at The Lake House.
The full summer schedule is as follows:
May 19 — Carolyn Wonderland with opening act John Egan
May 26 — Del Castillo with opening act Norma Zenteno
June 2 — Raul Malo with opening act Shannon Whitworth
June 9 — The Fab 5 and Ted Roddy
June 16 — U.S. Senior Olympics Opening Ceremony
June 23 — The Mother Truckers
June 30 — Beans Barton and the Bi-Peds
