Jonas returns, Bieber bubbles
Jonas vs. Justin: Houston's in play for the ultimate tween throwdown
Time's up for the Jonas Brothers' 15 minutes, but the hardcore Christians and Jersey shore natives are diehard Houstonaholics. After a mere one month absence, having performed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Brothers just announced a return date of July 31.
Accompanied by Disney Channel colleague Demi Lovato, the appearance is in support of the new fluff flick, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, set to air on Disney Channel this summer.
Do the purity ring pretty boys have a gambling problem with Houston venues, or just a "washed up" status death wish? Indeed, Houstonians' taste are shifting towards the latest pre-pubescent pup Justin Bieber, whose Rodeo debut easily beat the Jonas Brothers in audience numbers.
The boy band's purity-centric image may be an outdated relic of the conservative Bush years. Whereas the bros were home schooled, Bieber is focussing on street smarts via savvy associations with Usher, Justin Timberlake and Ludacris. His latest hit, "Baby," catapult him to the top of the U.S. Billboard 200, making him the youngest solo male act to top the chart since Stevie Wonder.
The boys might encounter triple trouble when it comes to Houston ticket sales, but teen girls should be wary when switching their jaw dropping towards Justin, who claims to have long-standing crushes on Beyoncé and Barbara Walters. Watch out for the announcement of the Jonas' July cameo venue — it might be your last shot at sneaking a peek of the brothers before the prodigal sons wash back to the Shore.
Here is a preview of the Jonas Brothers' new movie. Will it go straight to DVD? Bieber is so above that.
