Get Your Gleek On
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy: A sneak peek at Glee and its Lady Gaga diva issues
Just when you thought Glee couldn't get any better, the show is bringing in the biggest trio of divas since Mariah, Celine and Aretha's hair-tastic sing-off on VH1's Divas Live.
The hit show, which returns to Fox on Tuesday at precisely 8:28 p.m. after an extended mid-season break, starts with Broadway superstar Idina Mentzel (think Wicked) guest starring as the coach of rival squad Vocal Adrenaline, and follows it up with the ultimate Madonna tribute on April 20, featuring no less than nine musical numbers from the Material Girl. But that's not all. Word has leaked that a later episode will feature the musical stylings of Lady Gaga and a cameo from the pop tart herself.
Glee, of course, is more than crowd-pleasing musical numbers (the show charted 25 Billboard 100 singles in 2009, more than any other entity since The Beatles had 31 in 1964). It's also offers some of the most cutting commentary on high school life since My So-Called Life and Freaks & Geeks — and it's home to Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester, the most quotably outrageous villain ever to appear on TV.
