he will rock you
Miller Outdoor Theatre rocks you with One Night of Queen
With all the buzz generated from Rami Malek (and his fake teeth) winning the Academy Award for Best Actor and now, news that a sequel to Bohemian Rhapsody may be in the works, interest in Queen is at a fever pitch.
Houstonians looking to stomp-stomp-clap along to the classic rock band’s greatest hits, in an energetic, outdoor setting, can pack Miller Outdoor Theatre and rock out to One Night of Queen, a tribute performance that opens Miller’s 2019 season.
One Night of Queen is a raucous cover act courtesy of singer Gary Mullen & The Works. In a little Hollywood style backstory, Mullen’s career playing the iconic frontman Freddie Mercury started in 2000, when his wife and his mother secretly applied to the TV show Stars in Their Eyes. Mullen won with more than double the runner up and setting the all time record for votes on the show.
After the television win, Mullen created One Night of Queen and formed his band The Works in 2002 — and has been rocking ever since; the group performs more than 150 shows a year. Queen founder and legendary guitarist Brian May even invited Mullen to a Queen & Paul Rodgers concert, where Mullen got to rub elbows with May.
Fans can expect a big crowd on Friday, March 15, as Mullen and Co. kick out Queen’s greatest jams, like “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions,” and “Another One Bites the Dust.” (No word if Mullen will don fake teeth for the show.)
