Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award
Human rights activist John Prendergast to receive Holocaust Museum honor
Activist John Prendergast is soon to join the ranks of notables such as John McCain, Colin Powell and Steven Spielberg when he receives the Houston Holocaust Museum's Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award May 3 at the museum's annual dinner at the Hilton Americas.
Prendergast has dedicated his life to preventing genocide and human rights abuses throughout Africa and has traveled extensively in Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Chad and the Congo with Enough Project, which he co-founded.
He has advised the National Security Council and the United Nations; authored eight books on Africa, with two more due for publication; and teamed up with celebrities like Don Cheadle, George Clooney and former Rockey Tracy McGrady to raise awareness about African ethnic conflict.
Congratulations, and let's hope Clooney makes a cameo.
