VIBES by SI Swimsuit Festival
Chrissy Teigen plans Houston return to serve up her famous fried chicken wings
Chrissy Teigen must really like Houston. The model and wife of singer John Legend was everywhere during Super Bowl LI, attending the Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift concerts at Club Nomadic and sitting in New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's suite at the game at NRG Stadium.
Now, she's coming back to H-Town for the VIBES by SI Swimsuit Festival, where she'll be serving up two of her original recipes — John’s Fried Chicken Wings with Spicy Honey Butter and Frito Pie Bar — from her cookbook Cravings.
The two-day festival (on February 17 and 18) celebrates the launch of the 2017 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue with music, food and celebrity/model sightings.
The first night spotlights a curated selection of culinary delights with top chefs and specialty libations. In addition to mingling with the 2017 SI Swimsuit models and sampling Teigen's specialties, guests can enjoy signature dishes and demonstrations from award-winning Houston chefs Chris Shepard (Underbelly), and Terrence Gallivan and Siegel Gardner (Pass & Provisions); Austin chef Tyson Cole (Uchi, UchiKo); Georgia chef Hugh Acheson (Five & Ten, The National, Empire State South, The Florence); and Chicago chef Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot Bistro).
The first night will culminate with a VIP performance by R&B sensation Miguel. The festival lineup continues February 18 with a concert featuring Houston musicians, followed by headliner Diplo, who also was in Houston for the Super Bowl.
The first-of its-kind swimsuit/food/music event will take place at Post HTX, which was the site for last December's Day for Night Festival. Tickets are available at SI.com/SwimsuitVibes. VIP All Access admission for both days is $250, VIP for one day is $150; general admission on February 18 is $35.
The Houston event caps off the launch week of the 2017 Swimsuit edition. It will be revealed earlier in the week at live-streamed red-carpet launch party in New York.
