TSU hosts live round table for MSNBC's Obama's America
Texas Southern University will be the site of Obama's America: 2010 and Beyond, a live broadcast panel discussion airing on MSNBC Monday 9-11 p.m. The round table event, which is sold out, promises to feature provocative discussion on race relations and post-racial identity in today's America. It airs on Martin Luther King Day almost exactly one year after the swearing in of the first African-American president of the United States.
The panel will be led by Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, and radio and television personality Tom Joyner, and will feature Voto Latino founder Maria Teresa Kumar; Melissa Harris-Lacewell, associate Professor of Politics and African American Studies at Princeton University; radio host Michael Smerconish; actress and activist Rosie Perez; John McWhorter, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute; Irshad Manji, the author of The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim's Call for Reform in Her Faith; and journalist Jeff Johnson.
