Snow on the beach: Galveston imports a winter wonderland
Nov 13, 2010 | 8:03 am
Galveston's Moody Gardens' ninth annual Festival of Lights is broadening its usual offerings with fake flakes, among other things.
The Snow Zone children's area is a new addition open Friday evenings to teach young Texans about water's other state of matter.
The yearly holiday festival includes a trail of Christmas lights, light displays over Galveston Bay and a parachuting Santa Claus.
Moody Gardens' Festival of Lights opens Saturday and runs through Jan. 1. Weekly Friday food drives include two-for-one admission with the donation of a non-perishable food item. Admission to the first-ever Snow Zone costs $5 on top of the regular admission ticket.
