One great thing about working for the web is that it never stays the same for long. It's kind of like Houston weather — if you don't like it, just wait a little bit and it's sure to change.
Since CultureMap debuted barely a year ago, we've been constantly refining the site. We've added fun new features like CultureLists, StyleFile, and CulturePoll. We've greatly expanded our roster of contributors — Joel Luks on such disparate subjects as vegan food and classical music, Marci Gilbert on her journey to get fit, Kendall Knaus on beauty, Annina Stefanelli on fashion trends, and others — and will continue to add more fresh new voices.
We've introduced special themes — right now we're featuring Good Eats, a compendium of interesting features all about food, and a great Holiday Gift Guide that will continue through Christmas Eve.
We've broadened our scope to include sports and home design and we've added video and audio photo essays.
But now we're ready for a really big change.
This week, CultureMap will have a new look and a new home page. We think it's much more dynamic, with a rotating carousel of stories, more editor's picks, a daily sampling of the most popular stories and featured columnists, and a more accessible guide to what's inside.
You'll still find all of our culturally relevant news and features, along with our extensive events listings and city guide of more than 500 of the best places to dine, drink and shop — only now they will be in an easier-to-locate format.
Look for it soon — and when it's unveiled, let us know what you think.
Your response and acceptance of CultureMap has been overwhelming — we are grateful for your support and we want to continue to get your feedback. The beauty of our organization is we don't have to sort through a mind-boggling bureaucracy to make changes. We can tweak things almost immediately based on your likes and dislikes.
Our new redesign is far from the final product — we are putting the finishing touches on several new features that will roll out in the coming weeks. And, we will continue to come up with new ideas, refine established features, and act on your suggestions so that CultureMap will continue to be your indispensable real-time source of information and insight.
Let's continue this adventure together.
