Landlord troubles
Gallant Knight closing Dec. 31 after nearly 40 years in Houston

After almost 40 years in (near-constant) operation, Houston's Gallant Knight jazz bar is closing Dec. 31 due to what the bar's owners say is a leasing dispute with their landlord.
A flyer went out to patrons this morning crying "we got hosed," but jubilantly offering drinks specials and the same live music by the Hit Squad, Klockwork, Rick Marcel & Radiance Band, and Skyrocket now through closing.
Drink specials for the next 60 days are as follows: Thursdays: $1 domestic beer, $1 cover; Fridays and Saturdays: $4 calls & premiums until 11 p.m.
The Gallant Knight sounds optimistic about re-opening (perhaps in a new location), and if history is to believed, we have no doubts. Still, this could be it for a while — the flyer says that the landlord opted not to renew the bar's lease.
New Year's Eve at GK, anyone?
