A 41-year-old woman arrived at a local hospital with infected breast implants and helped lead authorities to a crude illegal cosmetic surgery operation, officials say.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division arrested and charged Yuri Lara, 34, and Karen Lara, 36, with unauthorized practice of medicine and possession of a dangerous drug.
Deputies believe performed illegal cosmetic procedures on a number of people who have not yet come forward.
The victim, whose breast enhancements had become infected and abscessed, told deputies that she had gone to the Laras for numerous cosmetic procedures, including body contouring, breast enhancements, liposuction and fat injections.
Investigators served a search warrant on the Lara home in the 15800 block of Cade Court in northwest Harris County and recovered several medical equipment devices believed to have been used in illegal medical procedures.
Vials of the Lidocaine were also found, which were believed to have been used to numb patients during the procedures.
Both Yuri and Karen Lara are being held on $50,000 bonds for unauthorized practice of medicine, a felony, and $1,000 bonds for misdemeanor drug possession.
Disturbingly, deputies believe that the pair may have performed illegal cosmetic procedures on a number of people who have not yet come forward.
