How often can you drink for a good cause?
Area watering holes are hosting happy hours during the month of September to benefit the Houston Food Bank. The first one is tonight at Poison Girl, where a portion of all sales from 8 p.m. to closing will be donated to the organization that provides food for the area's needy as part of national Hunger Action Month.
Other upcoming hunger-fighting happy hours will take place at Beaver's on Wednesday (10 percent of sales donated), The Tasting Room River Oaks on Sept. 22 (20 percent of sales donated), Anvil on Sept. 26 (20 percent of sales donated and a small auction) and The Harp on Sept. 28 (a portion of the sales donated and buttons sold).
Food drives will also be held at JR's, Meteor, South Beach and the Montrose Mining Co.. If you bring a can of food to these spots, you don't have to pay any cover charge to get in on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (excluding special events) during September.
