The Global Warming Hoax revisited
They're kidding, right? Forbes claims it finds 19 cities hotter than Houston
Hey, remember six months ago when everyone was talking about snowmageddon and the hoax of global warming? Neither do we. Summer's here and if it feels hotter than ever, that's because it is.
Forbes took data from cities across the summer to see who is suffering most from the national heat wave. And surprisingly, Houston ended up at the bottom of the list — No. 20, to be exact — on the ranking of the hottest cities this summer.
Rather than just list a tour of sunbelt cities with the highest mercury readings, Forbes took the average highs of June, July and August and compared how many days so far this summer were above average.
The winner? Louisville, with 72 days above normal — that's all but five. Houston logged only 60 days above normal, with triple digits not arriving until mid-August.
It does seem a bit unfair for Louisville and No. 2 Memphis to claim complaining rights — after all an average temperature there is in the low 80s, while Houston's benchmark is a sweaty 92. And yes, that's before you even begin to count the humidity.
Look, surviving a Houston summer takes blotting papers, an efficient A/C and a Zen-like tolerance of hot, sweaty discomfort. We're not saying we want people to think we're the worst. We just want to have some documentation when we tell our grandchildren how much we suffered.
