Forget candy from a baby: Mystery robbers rough up a 3-year-old to steal heriPad
Modern society, what have we become?
The Houston Police Department is busy investigating an incident in which a grown woman stole an iPad out of a 3-year-old girl's hands.
On Tuesday around 1:40 p.m., the girl's mother was unlatching her infant son from a car seat in the parking lot of the Maxey Village Apartments in northeast Houston as her little girl waited. Suddenly, a woman walked up to the vehicle, as another man was spotted, waiting in the lurch.
"What the hell, who'd do that to a 3-year-old?" the girl's mother said. "I mean, get a job."
"When I turned around to grab the baby from the car seat, she came running towards (the 3-year-old), knocked her down and took her iPad," the mother tells KPRC Ch. 2. She suspected the pair of criminals originally planned to snag the tablet computer as she and her kids passed through a nearby breezeway.
Instead, the woman robber dashed towards the young family, grabbed the iPad and ran off with her accomplice.
According to HPD spokesperson Kese Smith, the tiny victim is doing fine, aside from early complaints of elbow pain. What the toddler was doing with a $500 iPad remains a mystery.
"What the hell, who'd do that to a 3-year-old?" the girl's mother said. "I mean, get a job."
"Have some respect for little babies," noted father Diego Morales. "You can't be out here stealing kids' stuff."
The HPD Robbery Division is tracking down the thieves. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
