Art Car power
Voting ends at Noon: Pick the best-looking Mini work of art
Skip staking out a spot as a spectator at the annual Art Car Parade and speak your voice today by selecting your favorite entry from this week's Mini Art Car Project. In a partnership between the 2011 Art Car Parade, Houston Art Car Klub and Momentum Motor Cars Houston, local artists have painted four 2010 Mini Cooper models, making them into moving works of art.
Entry A: Animated robots have taken over this Mini, zipping along an assembly line and whistling while they work. Artist Robynn Sanders, winner of the 2009 Art Car Parade, is toying with the idea of robots as toys, taking inspiration from the car's pint-size dimensions.
Entry B: Rebecca Bass converted this convertible into an homage to hippie hero, artist Peter Max. This vehicle rides on groovy vibes and a psychedelic pop palette.
Entry C: "Oil spill monsters" have taken over the exterior of this micromobile, which is the handiwork of Michelle Reyna and various community artists. Are those tar balls screaming or singing? You decide.
Entry D: Keep it classy with this set of whimsical, black and white wheels. Artist Kim Granneman may have added a few blind spots, but the ivory leaves are just lovely.
All four cars will be on display at White Linen Night, Saturday night from 6 -9 p.m. The winning entry will be featured in front of Stella Sola.
