"I'm not a slut, it's just hot!"
That's what at least one Houston SlutWalk sign will say Saturday as people gather in protest of slut-shaming and victim-blaming in cases of sexual assault and rape.
Slutwalk began in Toronto earlier this year after Toronto Police constable Michael Sanguinetti said, "Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized" at a university safety forum. He later apologized for the remark, but the incident inspired SlutWalks to spring up in American cities including Dallas, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia and Austin.
Houston's SlutWalk begins at 11 a.m. Cherryhurst Park, located at 1700 Missouri St.
