Dave Ward has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records.
The longtime KTRK ABC 13 anchor has been recognized for having the longest-running career in television, just shy of 50 years. He began working at the station on November 9, 1966 as a news department reporter and photographer and has anchored the news since 1968. He continues to anchor the 6 pm news.
The citation notes that "Ward is known for beginning every newscast with the phrase, 'Good evening, friends.' "
Ward surpasses Harold "Hal" Fishman, a Los Angeles local news anchor who was on the air continuously between 1960 until his death in 2007.
