A call to appreciate Houston's trees: Contest shines spotlight on city'sendangered glory
Calling all photographers, from novices to seasoned professionals: Do you appreciate a nice tree?
On Friday, June 29, the Houston Center for Photography will share its home and its proceeds with Trees For Houston for the annual summer fund-raising event, SPIN8: Put a Tree On It, and the photography nonprofit has issued an open call for submissions.
Supporters can submit up to two images (via email in advance, or printed on the day of the event) to be put on display in the gallery for a one-night exhibition. Just adhere to these simple guidelines, and even the most amateur among us can pass as photographers for the night.
The party will include treats and eats from Real Ale Brewing and Good Dog Hot Dogs, scavenger hunts and tree workshops, music (by DJ Gracie Chavez) and dancing — and, of course, lots and lots of tree images.
Will your submissions be among them?
