With near picture-perfect Houston weather, the 32nd annual Bunnies on the Bayou party drew a large crowd to Fish Plaza at the Wortham Center Sunday afternoon. What started as a small gathering of gay friends in a Montrose apartment complex on Easter Sunday, 1979, has grown into a major charity fundraiser that draws visitors from across the nation along with a sizable contingent of Houstonians who make it part of their Easter holiday tradition with bunny attire. Photographer Dalton DeHart captured some of the goings-on.

The nice weather drew a standing-room-only crowd to what is billed at the state's — and perhaps the nation's — biggest outdoor cocktail party.

Colorful attire is part of the tradition.

Bunny ears (and no shirts), too.

Even a pooch can be a bunny for a day.

The Flyboys are also a Bunny party tradition.

Decorated tents lined Fish Plaza.

Parasols some in handy to shield the sun.

Lots of volunteers helped make the 32nd bunny party a hoppin' success. Organizers are already looking forward to next year's party.
