Five of the most trusted companies in America call Houston home: A list to beproud of
Stories of corporate corruption dominate the headlines more often than not lately, so it's refreshing to note that some businesses — and, most notably, a handful of Houston-based companies — can practice the fundamentals of business while still retaining trust in the eyes of the shareholder.
Forbes Magazine worked with GMI Ratings to analyze more than 8,000 companies that trade on U.S. exchanges and, based on a set of criteria, identified those that practice the most transparency and trustworthiness.
The Houston Business Journal identified five Houston companies on the list of 100, which is divided into large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap categories.
In the large-cap category, locally-based Boardwalk Pipeline Partners and Enbridge Energy Partners made the list of eight companies, which also included Austin grocery giant, Whole Foods Market.
International petrochemical manufacturer and supplier, Westlake Chemical, qualified for the mid-cap category. Houston Wire & Cable and Stewart Information Services made the list for the small-cap.
