Help US Recycle (Please)
Be our office Ty Pennington, win free tickets
Want to help us along on the road to green?
As you hopefully read, CultureMap office is on its way to being green. I've introduced a recycling center to the office that's pretty basic ... maybe even pathetic.
Having no spare floor space, I took a floor-hogging table frame and wrapped an unused blue Snuggie around it. Next, I two put empty, ugly cardboard boxes on top of the new Snuggie surface. Using the back of printed paper, I labeled one Plastics and Aluminums/Steel, the other, Paper and Cardboard.
At the moment. there's even a hanger dangling off one of the boxes for some reason. Al Gore would not be pleased.
Obviously, I'm artistically deficient and let's be honest — the recycling center reflects that. I know many of you are more creative so here's the challenge:
Using only reused materials, create a system to help us sort our recyclables. It can be two boxes like my current center, or whatever your creative genius comes up with (hopefully, it's better than two boxes). Functionally, it needs to make for easy transport to the Recycling Center. Less is more and we don't want to use a liner every time we make a trip.
The winner will receive four tickets to the International Festival (iFest) later this month.
Designs will be judged on creativity, functionality and of course, following of the rules. As you may have figured out from our first office green story, I'm a stickler for rules (see the whole rinsing controversy).
Send images of your entry along with your contact information (full name and phone number) to rachel@culturemap.com. All submissions must be received by midnight, April 11.
Happy designing!
