First reviews of iPad: "It's incredible," but lines aren't that long
- The Apple Store is packed and iPad are flying out the door.
- CultureMap renders beautifully on the iPad's Safari browser.
- A view of the fast moving walk-up line.
- Security is all over the entrance to the store and monitoring the reservationline.
- Customers can look and touch at BestBuy but they don't have any in stock justyet.
The iPad made it's debut this morning, but it looks like it's not going to be the smash hit that the iPhone was, based on early demand.
CultureMapper Nic Phillips reports there wasn't a huge line at the Galleria Apple store and there seemed to be a supply of iPads on hand for anyone who walked in.
But Phillips, who is the most technologically proficient person I know, is impressed by Apple's newest product.
"It's incredible," he said. "The screen is beautiful and it's really fast. I'm surprised how fast it is."
There are a few bugs — a blank space came up where a video should be — but overall, it works really well, Phillips said.
The Best Buy store on Richmond at the 610 loop also had iPads on display this morning but had not received a shipment yet. The store expects the product to arrive sometime today and was pre-selling it. Customers who bought it received a coupon that they can redeem once it arrives in the store.
