Taking a bite out of boring PSAs: Anna Paquin's blurt out
True Blood's Anna Paquin announced she was bisexual on April 1, but she wasn't kidding around.
Although the Oscar-winning former child star is engaged to co-star Stephen Moyer, she used the filming of a public service announcement for a gay rights advocacy group to come out.
Sources at the taping say producers were unaware Paquin would make the announcement. So much for the image of those old, boring, staid PSAs. Michael J. Fox — the king of those 1980s after-school spots in his Alex P. Keaton days — never did a PSA like this.
In hers, Paquin states: "I'm Anna Paquin. I'm bisexual and I give a damn," as part of True Colors Fund's "Give a Damn" campaign, which also includes spots by Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, Sharon Osbourne and other celebs.
The new season of Paquin's subversive (and very naked) vampire drama premieres in June.
