It's been another record year for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Late Sunday afternoon, on the last day of this year's livestock show and rodeo, attendees who jammed Reliant Park got the news from officials – Total attendance for the 20-day extravaganza surpassed 2.26 million.
The figures were boosted by a whopping 150,948 people who flooded into the rodeo grounds on Saturday — a new single day record.
Total attendance surpassed last year's record of 2.144 million.
Attendance at rodeo performances featuring top entertainers in Reliant Stadium, however, fell slightly from 2010. This year's total (1,255,323) was about 9,000 less than last year.
Even so, three of the top five best-selling performances in rodeo history took place this year.
Brad Paisley jumped to No. 3 on the all-time list. His Saturday night performance attracted 73,835.
Miranda Lambert's performance on March 16 ranks fourth, with 73,811 and Go Tejano Day, featuring La Arrolladorra Banda El Limon and La Leyenda, on March 13 ranks fifth, with 73,469.
Go Tejano Days in 2010 and 2009 remain in the top two positions of the all-time top 20 performances.
