Houston Is Fun City
New study says Houston is one of the most fun cities in the nation — but we already knew that
We may joke that there is always something going on in Houston, but now we have proof that, yes, there is literally always something going on in the Bayou City. According to a new study by ticketing and marketing platform Eventbrite, not only do we host a ton of events, but we are happy to participate in the fun.
Analyzing ticket data trends in the country's 25 biggest cities, EvenbBrite was able to determine what kind of events are popular in each place. Using four umbrella categories (Live Music & Concerts, Fitness Events, Food & Drink Events and Art Events), each city was then ranked by the popularity of each category. Houston ranked in the top 10 across the board. (Well, almost. It seems we're not as keen on fitness events.)
For Live Music & Concerts, Houston ranks No. 3 in the nation, only behind Austin at No. 1 and San Francisco at No. 2.
Houston also does well in arts events, ranking No. 4 behind New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. According to EventBrite writer Michelle Masek:
When we say Houston, you say Art Show? Believe it, y'all! Beyond big hair and BBQ, turns out Houston is quite the mecca for artists, ranking 3rd in attendance to art shows, festivals, and all things visual-arts related."
In Food & Drink Events, we ranked No. 7 in the country, and in fitness events, we ranked a lowly 13, but still ahead of Austin, at No. 15, Dallas at No. 19, and Fort Worth at No. 22.
