Armed gunman emergency alert issued by University of Houston, then canceled

UPDATE: Officers with University of Houston Police Department tell CultureMap that the emergency warning has now been canceled. The warning was called off within a half hour of when the emergency text of a gunman on campus was sent to students.
UH's Emergency Alert system now reads the following: "The suspect was identefied and there was no gun."

The University of Houston has issued emergency warning about a gunman near Hoffman and Agnes Arnold Halls.
The UH emergency message system is asking students to avoid these areas and notes that the suspect is an Asian male carrying a handgun. He is said to be wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
