It's getting hot in here! Fire breaks out at steakhouse during romanticValentine's Day dinner
Things got pretty steamy at Sullivan's Steakhouse, as a late night fire brought a dramatic end to what was apparently a rather red hot Valentine's Day at the popular restaurant.
The lights were low and the music was just right, as a few lingering customers finished their meals just before the steakhouse's midnight closing time. But the romantic mood was quickly shattered when staffers rushed diners out of the building after a grease fire started in the kitchen.
KTRK Ch. 13 reports that workers attempted to contain the fire, but the flames quickly spread up the wall. The Houston Fire Department arrived to find plumes of heavy smoke pouring from the roof.
The romantic mood was quickly shattered when staffers rushed diners out of the building after a grease fire started in the kitchen.
In a statement released Wednesday, Sullivan's general manager Zaidi Syed said that the firefighters contained the blaze to a small area inside the kitchen, avoiding any structural damage to the building. Repairs are in progress to keep the restaurant on target to reopen Thursday or Friday.
"All systems worked well last night," Sullivan's spokesperson Kim Padgett told CultureMap. "It was a relatively small grease fire with a lot of smoke and, luckily, no customers or employees were injured."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, although many area residents believe the event had something to do with loooooove.
