Pethouse Pet of the Week
Pet of the week: Aladdin makes a wish that not even a genie can grant
Pethouse Pet of the Week
Name: Aladdin, as in the Disney classic telling of the Thousand Arabian Nights tales. Scott Weinger voiced Aladdin in the 1992 animated feature. Robin Williams spoke for the magical genie. A live action Aladdin movie is set for release next year with Mena Massoud in the title role and Will Smith as the genie.
Ethnicity: I'm a Terrier mix with a little of this and a little of that. You know what they say about diversity, it only makes us stronger. Oh, like your family came over on the Mayflower. Get over yourself — and get over here to adopt me.
Birthdate: June 18, 2016. I'm entering my peak active years, which I intend to spend curled up on a couch next to you.
Come and get me: I'm available for adoption at 11 am Friday, January 26, at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken sent me."
Aladdin's voice: Here's a joke straight out of the comedian's handbook, with a little twist at the end.
A guy finds an old lamp in a second hand antique store. Just for laughs, he rubs the lamp, like in those old fairy tales. Lo and behold, a genie appears and says, "For releasing me from the lamp, I will grant you one wish."
The man thinks it over, shows the genie a map of the Middle East and says, "More than anything else, it is my dream to see peace in the Middle East between Israel and its Arab neighbors. Let these countries live in peace for all eternity."
The genie looks at the map, and says, "You are asking for the impossible. Even a magical genie like myself cannot bring peace to the Middle East. I am so sorry. Please make another wish."
The man says, "Well, okay, then can you make the Houston Texans win the Super Bowl next year?"
The genie says, "Let me look at that map again."
