PH Design owners Amanda Valentine and Chris Promecene served as retail mentors, offering insight through the early concept phase and eventually acting as official buyers. Students are required to have their items purchased to received more than a passing grade . . . This year, all products made it to the shop. "Students really respond to this notion of making shelf-ready items," Bowen explains. "There's a reality to it. There's a risk of losing money and a little self-esteem." But ultimately, Bowen says the risk factor is put into perspective when students receive a check for items they've sold. Click through the slide show to see the full line. Teams produced 10 to 30 units of each product. ______ Lona Canvas art supply case by David Saucedo, Jaqueline Ramirez and Christine Tran
