Kick The Holiday Blues
Miss International helps partygoers Beat the holiday Blues at Crisis Intervention gala
What:Beat the Blues.
Where: Hughes Hangar.
The scoop: A holiday party raised awareness and funds for a very serious issue — the holiday blues. There’s no busier time for Crisis Intervention of Houston's services than this time of year when people suffer from depression and emotional crisis at higher rates. Those in need call the agency's 24-hour Crisis Hotline — the only one in the city that operates all day, every day — or text the 24-hour Teen Text line seeking help.
While the topic is serious, the mood was light as guests came decked out under the moonlit patio area in their "blue chic" outfits, where they mingled to the upbeat sounds of DJ GT Mayne and were welcomed by event chair, Miss International 2015 Elise Banks. The laid back night was one of laughter and networking and one that continues to take great strides every year in making mental illness and depression less taboo.
All profits from the event will support Crisis Intervention of Houston's 24-Hour Crisis Hotlines & Teen Text Line.
