Not Just Western
Hip bootmaker set to open a new Highland Village store that's all about handcrafted luxury
It’s no surprise Lucchese has jumped feet first into the fashion pool, expanding beyond ropers and Western-style boots. The company’s namesake is Italian, and it comes from a long line of shoemakers, making the brand's new luxury expansion a good fit.
"We selected Highland Village because we believe it is the epicenter of Houston luxury retail."
Lucchese is taking another step beyond its Western feel, opening a new boutique in Highland Village in mid-December. The store will feature the handcrafted selection of boots the company is known for, as well as men’s and women’s shoes, apparel, accessories and women’s handbags.
Executive vice president of marketing and creative director William Zeitz tells CultureMap the new Houston store will put the company on the map as a lifestyle brand, going beyond premium Western footwear and into a new sphere, catering to customers own design desires. Finding just the right location for the store was a crucial part of the plan.
“We selected Highland Village because we believe it is the epicenter of Houston luxury retail and the location on Westheimer is extremely convenient to the upscale and affluent audience we want to reach,” Zeitz says.“The flagship store will be a reflection of our new design aesthetic, which was first introduced at our completely remolded store in San Antonio.”
The 5,000-square-foot flagship store fills the former Ann Taylor space and features a dedicated custom design area, where customers can create their own bespoke boots, limited only by their own imaginations.
“The area will be complete with samples of all of our exotic and flat leathers as well as all of our stitch patterns. Literally the sky is the limit, and we will be able to make whatever the customer imagines and desires,” Zeitz says.
The Highland Village store will be Lucchese’s second Texas location, joining the San Antonio one.
