The 411: After taking a year-long sabbatical to El Salvador and Mexico, Justin Garcia gave art lovers a deeper look at his 7:Unlayered exhibit, revealing hidden messages he’d thoughtfully incorporated into his collection, beginning from the start of his career until current day. It was a big night for Garcia, who also announced the 2015 release of his first book, OneTonGoldfish: In Search of the Tangible Dream. Like the rest of Garcia's work, the new book combines his artistic, scientific and introspective sides.
"It's about an artist finding purpose beyond the canvas," Garcia says. He wrote the book in seven months, using stacks and stacks of yellow legal pads to complete his literary journey.
The crowd of more than 200 art enthusiasts, friends and fans took in the exhibit, sipping Bar Boheme’s signature sangria, Saint Arnold's beer and bites by Whole Foods.
