Erica Rose, Ernie Manouse, Deborah Duncan and more ham it up at Main Street Theater Follies
Erica Rose might be the celeb with national cred, but it was KHOUGreat Day Houstonhost Deborah Duncan who absolutely stole the show at Main Street Theater's seventh annual Autumn Follies Gala, the musical spoof titled "The Sound of Montrose" this year.
Duncan was off-book and tore up the stage to the delight of the 175 guests in the audience at the theater's Chelsea Market location. Jumping into their cameo roles were sports reporter Lisa Malosky, 103.7 FM personality Donna McKenzie, David Nachtigall of The Handsomes, Metro's George Greanias, South Texas College of Law exec Helen Bishop Jenkins and more.
And, of course, HoustonPBS's Ernie Manouse, a veteran of every Autumn Follies, entertained with his improvisations and riff on the script while Main Street Theater pros tried to hold things together.
The evening included a reception and silent auction, held in the neighboring Chelsea Grill.
Taking bow for their orchestration of the fundraiser were chairs Francesca London and Marian Strug and honorary chair Mary D'Andrea. John Bradshaw Jr. received kudos for his starring role as auction chair. The event raised $75,000 for the theater's education and outreach programs that reach more than 140,000 children each year.
