A huge Houston shopping discount builds anticipation: Holiday Shopping Card season is already here
Before Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there’s the launch of the Holiday Shopping Card, the fall event that really gets people in the spirit. The 11-day bonanza raises money for Victory and the American Cancer Society, while giving shoppers a guilt-free excuse to go shopping.
Since its launch in 1997, the Holiday Shopping Card has become a Houston institution.
Since its launch in 1997, the Holiday Shopping Card has become a Houston institution, giving shoppers a 20 percent discount at hundreds of retailers across the area in exchange for a $75 donation. As an added bonus, many retailers offer special extras during Holiday Shopping Card Season, adding to the card’s cache. This year the Holiday Shopping card is valid from Oct. 23 through Nov. 2.
The Holiday Shopping Card on is sale online and at any of the participating retailers, but for those who really want to celebrate the shopping season, we suggest popping by any of the following kickoff parties.
Vince Ford Custom Apparel
Menswear store Vince Ford gets the party going Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. with complimentary appetizers and wine. The store will donate 10 percent of the proceeds to the American Society.
Up Restaurant
The festivities continue Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Up Restaurant in Highland Village.
Joseph
The designer shoe store in Highland Village marks the official start of the Holiday Shopping Card from 10 to 1 p.m. for light bites on kickoff day (Thursday). Ten percent of the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
IW Marks
Jeweler IW Marks throws a Holiday Shopping Card fete Thursday, Oct. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m.
West Ave
West Ave is opening early at 9:30 a.m. for Holiday Shopping Card holders Friday, Oct. 24, offering coffee and breakfast bites at the new Poliform store. Tootsies, Ligne Roset and Sam & Lilli are just a few stores opening early for the event.
