VIPs First in Line for Art Consumption
Top rung VIPs get a headstart on VIP evening at Texas Contemporary
On a night when there were more happenings than even the most ardent social butterfly could manage, for many it was the VIP opening of the Texas Contemporary Art Fair that was the place to be.
A sophisticated smattering of uber-VIPs — artists, art world fans and patrons — arrived early, several hours before the VIP throng poured in. From the start, VIP opening night chair Becca Cason Thrash, on the arm of hubby John Thrash, was there to greet guests as were Texas Contemporary founders Max Fishko and Jeffrey Wainhause.
The evening benefited the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston.
With 60 galleries from across the globe represented, collectors such as Judy Nyquist, Lea Weingarten and Lester Marks had their plates full of buying opportunities. Though one of the beauties of the fair for Houstonians is that even those without the budget to buy can afford the admission fee in order to admire the bold collection of artworks.
In the early mix were Dana and Taft McWhorter, Don Mafrige Jr., David Graeve, Carolyn Farb, Federico Vribe, Alton LaDay and Jonathan Glus, Diane Lokey Farb, Debra and Camille Samara, Garrett Hunter, Rainey Knudson, Katherine B. Barthelme and David Shelton.
