It wasn't Brasserie 19's busiest day on record. But the champagne-guzzling crowd that poured in on Thursday was among one of the River Oaks bistro's best. And that was thanks in no small part to the Veuve Clicquot "mail truck."
For several late afternoon hours, the merry throng that schmoozed in and out totaled 500, consuming 36 cases of Veuve. As B-19 general manager Shawn Virene said, "Veuve Clicquot anything and everybody shows up." Indeed. At 6:30, the place was SRO with partiers two and three deep around the bar. By night's end, the restaurant had served some 400 dinners.
The bubbly frolic took place on the patio of the River Oaks eatery where Veuve's yellow theme was played out on decorated tables and where guests posed for photos in a mega-sized yellow Veuve frame.
Joining the party were Dr. Romy Mitchell, Jenny Pallais, Nancy and Joe Mathé, Paula Mott, Avery Burns, Chandee Perkins, Gretchen Bieber, Kelsey Goddard, Melissa Santiago, Shelley Virene, Whitney Morgan and Katherine Whaley.
