Fire water and art: High-priced tequila fuels a Marfa party in Houston
What:Ballroom Marfa summer cocktail party.
Where: The Houston home of Jeff Fort, who divides his time between the big city and his ranch near Marfa.
The 411: Some 100 Ballroom Marfa donors, board members, art dealers and artists joined the party celebrating the non-profit's 11 years as a contemporary cultural arts space in far West Texas. Barclays co-hosted the event with Fort, a Ballroom Marfa board member. While the conversation centered on the ballroom's decade of creating events and art happenings, the talk was fueled by Casa Dragones Joven sipping tequila, the sole spirit served at the party.
Casa Dragones founder Bob Pittman, Clear Channel CEO, and his wife, Veronique, are big Ballroom Marfa supporters and though not in attendance, they insured that there was plenty of fire water on hand.
Who: Ballroom Marfa founders Fairfax Dorn and Virginia Leberman, plus Seth Mittag, Sandy Parkerson, Clemencia Larimore, Steve Houston, Don Childress, Katherine Barthleme and Lisa and John Dorn.
