New Foodie Mecca
Houston gets a new restaurant with Nobu power: A new foodie mecca is rising
Gateway Memorial City — the mixed-use, master planned development scheduled to open this fall just west of Memorial City Mall — already has several notable restaurants slated as tenants. The latest addition is a new contemporary Japanese concept, Kuu.
Chef Adison Lee, trained by famed Nobu chef Matsuhisa and formerly of Midtown's Sushi Raku, will present a menu featuring sushi plus new takes on traditional Japanese fare.
In good company, Kuu will join Vallone's, the new steakhouse by Scott Sulma and chef Grant Gordon, which carries consultant Tony Vallone's famous moniker, and Churrascos at its fourth and newest location.
Gastropub Hops & Harvest — from James Beard Award winning chef Bradley Ogden — is another potential neighbor in the Gateway complex. It would be the third local concept by Ogden who previously revealed plans to open Funky Chicken Restaurant and Bradley's Fine Diner in the Heights this month to CultureMap.
