    A Butler Mansion

The true luxe life: This $1.99 million Bellaire mansion comes butler ready — with Mediterranean flair

Editor's Note: Houston, the surrounding areas and beyond are loaded with must-have houses for sale in all shapes, sizes and price ranges. In this continuing series, CultureMap snoops through some of the best and gives you the lowdown on what's hot on the market.

Master suites up and down, along with a huge multi-tiered game room and backyard retreat with pool, make a Mediterranean beauty in Bellaire a hot commodity.

The mansion's current asking price? $1,998,500.

    Walk through
Located on a large corner lot, one enters the manse at 4501 Magnolia St. through double custom wrought iron doors to a dramatic circular staircase, also with custom wrought iron detailing. The formal living area is to the right and a paneled study with adjacent full bath is just beyond.

To the left lies the formal dining room, with the butler's pantry easy at hand between the room and kitchen. Sit around the circular kitchen bar or step into the chef's hub where you'll find professional-grade stainless steel appliances. The den is spacious and open to the kitchen. From here, take in views of the landscaped backyard with swimming pool and waterfall.

The downstairs master suite rests just off the kitchen and features an exit via French doors to a private courtyard. The master bath is a granite lover's dream and includes a large soaking tub, dual vanities and glass-framed corner shower. Two large master closets afford walk-in access.

Upstairs, the game room with wet bar and refrigerator is big enough for a media section and a pool table. The remaining four bedrooms are upstairs, along with the second master suite with covered balcony overlooking the backyard. In total, the house has five full and one-half baths.

    Step outside
An outdoor kitchen and dining area sit near the swimming pool with waterfall feature. A gated parking lot on the east side of the house can park two cars outside and two cars inside. A circular drive with cantera stone fountain welcomes in front.

    Square footage: 5,870

    Asking price: $1,998,500

Listing agents: Lisa Kornhauser, John Daugherty, Realtors

The Arc will be located directly north of the Ion's existing building.

Houston's Ion District is set to expand with the addition of a nearly 200,000-square-foot research and technology facility, The Arc at the Ion District.

Rice Real Estate Company and Lincoln Property Company are expected to break ground on the state-of-the-art facility in Q2 2026 with a completion target set for Q1 2028, according to a news release.

Rice University, the new facility's lead tenant, will occupy almost 30,000 square feet of office and lab space in The Arc, which will share a plaza with the Ion and is intended to "extend the district’s success as a hub for innovative ideas and collaboration." Rice research at The Arc will focus on energy, artificial intelligence, data science, robotics and computational engineering, according to the release.

“The Arc will offer Rice the opportunity to deepen its commitment to fostering world-changing innovation by bringing our leading minds and breakthrough discoveries into direct engagement with Houston’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Rice president Reginald DesRoches said. “Working side by side with industry experts and actual end users at the Ion District uniquely positions our faculty and students to form partnerships and collaborations that might not be possible elsewhere.”

Developers of the project are targeting LEED Gold certification by incorporating smart building automation and energy-saving features into The Arc's design. Tenants will have the opportunity to lease flexible floor plans ranging from 28,000 to 31,000 square feet with 15-foot-high ceilings. The property will also feature a gym, an amenity lounge, conference and meeting spaces, outdoor plazas, underground parking, and new restaurants to join the campus' existing tenants, Late August, The Lymbar, and Second Draught.

Preleasing has begun for organizations interested in joining Rice in the building.

“The Arc at the Ion District will be more than a building — it will be a catalyst for the partnerships, innovations and discoveries that will define Houston’s future in science and technology,” Ken Jett, president of Rice Real Estate Company, said. “By expanding our urban innovation ecosystem, The Arc will attract leading organizations and talent to Houston, further strengthening our city’s position as a hub for scientific and entrepreneurial progress.”
