Shop 'Til You Drop
New open-air antiques market offers shoppers a Round Top treasure hunt right here in Houston
Even if you weren't in the market for a stuffed lion or a diamond cross necklace, the browsing was entertaining enough at the launch of the open-air Design Antique Show Houston (DASH). More than 60 dealers booked space at the North Post Oaks Event Center (actually an open field) for this past weekend of shopping.
Angela Poujol, Lisa Erwin, Michelle Maresh and Vanessa Sendukas are partners in the effort that will be held twice yearly.
Friday evening, they hosted a preview party for the spring show, complete with music, food from Escalante and libations including tastings of DASH vodka. A portion of proceeds from the preview party were earmarked for Child Advocates. Among those early shoppers were Cindy Gerson, Nadine Boutros, Janelle Reid, Rosemary Schatzman, Phyllis Williams, Cathy Cagle, Shelley Corman and Mary Whalley.
Owners describe their project as "a new kind of market in an urban setting." The next DASH shopping opportunity will be in the same location Nov. 6-8.
Among the vendors were Antica Collection, Back Row Antiques, Queen of Heirs Jewelry, Cram Crew and Susan Horne Antiques.
The introduction of the DASH vodka to the scene was a clever move by the antique show gals, the matching name a coincidence. DASH vodka is made in a distillery outside of Houston. Ali Ansari is founder and CEO.
