Houston's top young professionals take a bow as prestigious award winners: It's all Opera love
Six civically-minded, young Houstonians, who are distinguishing themselves in business and/or philanthropy, took bows recently at Karat 22 Jewelers as winners of Houston Grand Opera's prestigious Ovation Awards.
Receiving rounds of applause and toasts were Beverly Barrett, assistant professor at the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business; Ewart G. Jones, Jr., Wiess College Administrator at Rice University; Kathryn Lott, co-owner of Lott Entertainment; Aaron Reimer, attorney with Jenkins & Kamer, LLP; Joseph Schreiber, attorney with the Law Office of Joseph M. Schreiber, P.C.; and Hasti Taghi, senior communications specialist at Texas Children's Hospital.
The cocktail party announcing the winners was hosted by Girija Patel of Karat 22 Jewelers and chaired by Shavonnah Roberts Schreiber of HGO's Opening Nights for Young Professionals (O.N.) organization.
Past winners of the Ovations Award and the O.N.'s advisory committee selected the honorees from a large pool of nominees.
Among those saluting the winners were Valerie and Tracy Dieterich, Anant Patel, Kimberly Lombardino, Paula Brown, Allison Lott, Kevin Meyer, Dawn Gillespie, Kendall Hano, Angelina Hsieh, Steven Stone, Kelly Finn, Brianna Collins and Aku Patel.
