Houston's Green leaders: Tree defenders honor eco difference makers in historic Heights house

The 411: What began as a tree-planting celebration in 2005 has grown to two weeks of thinking green activities including a chef series, tree planting, art show, market and the gala. Shell and Bill Baldwin chaired the awards evening, sponsored by Boulevard Realty, in Baldwin's historic home.
The cocktail reception honored six Houstonians "who are leaders in sustainability in their professions." Picking up their "green thumb awards" were Patricia Greer, Joe Icet, Lisa Lin, Shelley Rice, Travis Weaver and Gracie Cavnar, founder of Recipe for Success which was beneficiary of the night's fundraising.
Shell founded the Green Valentine project in conjunction with the city Parks & Recreations Department, Trees for Houston and the Woodland Heights Civic Association.
